He was director of the Durban International Film Festival in South Africa from 1999 to 2012. Some of the specialized projects initiated during his term include Talent Campus Durban which brought together 50 young filmmakers from different countries in Africa; the Durban FilmMart which is aimed at film financing and co-production opportunities for African films.

As director of the Centre for Creative Arts (UKZN), Rorvik was also responsible for its other annual festivals - Time of the Writer, JOMBA! Contemporary Dance Experience, and Poetry Africa.

Rorvik’s experience includes fundraising, strategy planning, festival design and implementation, intercultural exchange, training, and audience development initiatives. He has served on a variety of film juries, selection committees and film project reader panels.

Rorvik was recently appointed Secretary-General of Arterial Network, an agency concerned with structural growth for arts and culture in Africa, and whose work includes building sustainable networks, policy formulation and lobbying, mobilising resources, training, and various continental projects, across the continent of Africa.  Arterial has official chapters in 40 African countries.
